Who we are
Bodgeproof is run by EZX Ltd, Plymouth, England. This notice says what we collect about you, why, how long we keep it and who else handles it. Email support@bodgeproof.co.uk with any question about it.
Your Bodgeproof account
When you sign up or join a garage, we keep your name, email address and password (stored only in a form that can't be turned back into it), your role in each garage, your two-step login settings, and which terms of service you accepted. Each login records when it started and when it was last used.
We use them to run your account and keep it secure, which our agreement with your garage needs. What you do in Bodgeproof goes in your garage's audit trail, with your name.
We keep them while you have a login. When your garage's account closes they're deleted with it, after its 30 days to download everything; ask us if you want them deleted sooner. Ended logins are deleted after 30 days, and our servers' logs, which record requests and errors, after 30 days.
Your garage's records
If you work at a garage that uses Bodgeproof, or visit, sign in at, report a problem to or do work for one, the garage decides what it records about you: for example your certificates, shifts, first-aid cover, sign-ins, accident book entries and the checks you did.
The garage is responsible for those records. EZX Ltd handles them for it, under the data processing terms in our terms of service, and uses them for nothing else. Ask the garage first about anything it holds about you; we'll help it answer.
Paying for Bodgeproof
Stripe takes payments for us. Your card or bank details go to Stripe, not to us. We keep your garage's plan, invoices and billing contact for six years after the year they relate to, as tax rules ask.
Emails from Bodgeproof
Bodgeproof emails the people in a garage about what's due, what's overdue and what's changed, and about their account and billing. Each person chooses which reminders they get in their notification settings; emails about security and billing always go. We don't send marketing emails.
Reading documents
When a report or certificate is uploaded or emailed to a garage, Bodgeproof can read it to fill in the filing form. That runs on computers EZX Ltd runs in the UK; no outside AI service sees it.
EZX uses a garage's documents to improve its reading software only if one of the garage's owners has turned that on, and stops when they turn it off.
When we help with an account
If a garage asks for help, our support staff can open its account for up to an hour. Each time is recorded in the garage's audit trail with the reason, and its owners are emailed.
Booking a demo
When you book a demo we keep what you type into the form: your name, garage, email, phone, town or postcode, how many sites you have, whether one is an MOT station, and anything else you choose to tell us.
We use it to arrange the demo and follow it up. It's emailed to us; there's no automatic reply and no mailing list.
We keep it for 12 months after we last changed it, unless you become a customer.
Reports from a QR sticker
Anyone can report a problem with a piece of equipment from its sticker. The garage that owns it receives the report: what's wrong, a photo if you add one, and your name and how to reach you if you give them.
EZX Ltd handles the report for that garage, which decides how it's used. A photo's location and other hidden details are removed before it's stored.
A report the garage doesn't act on is deleted after 90 days. One that becomes a defect stays in the garage's records, and the reporter's details are removed from it at the same age.
Signing in at a garage
If you sign in as a visitor or contractor from a garage's poster, the garage receives your name, and your company if you give one. EZX Ltd handles it for the garage.
A cookie on your phone lets you sign out again. The garage's own settings say how long its sign-in book is kept.
Cookies
This website sets no tracking or advertising cookies, so there's nothing to agree to.
It uses a security cookie on its forms, which stops another site sending a form in your name, and a cookie that remembers the theme you chose on this device, for a year.
When you log in to Bodgeproof, a sign-in cookie keeps you logged in until you log out.
Who else handles it
Our hosting provider in the UK, which runs our servers and stores files and backups; Amazon Web Services, which delivers our emails from London; and Stripe, which takes payments. Each acts only on our instructions, under terms that protect your details.
Our terms of service list them, with where each one is, in the data processing terms.
Your rights
You can ask to see the details we hold about you, have them corrected or deleted, or object to how we use them. Email support@bodgeproof.co.uk.
If you're unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
