Terms of service
These terms apply from 21 Oct 2026.
These terms are the agreement between EZX Ltd and the garage that uses Bodgeproof. They're meant to be read, so they're short and plain. If anything's unclear, email support@bodgeproof.co.uk before you sign up.
Who we are, and who these terms are for
Bodgeproof is run by EZX Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales and based in Plymouth ("EZX", "we"). "Your garage" is the business that signs up, and "you" means your garage and everyone it gives a login to.
Bodgeproof is for businesses, not consumers. The person who signs up confirms they can accept these terms for the garage.
Our privacy notice, and the data processing terms and list of providers further down this page, are part of these terms. If your garage has signed an agreement with us, such as a founding garage's agreement, that agreement wins where the two differ.
What Bodgeproof is, and what it isn't
Bodgeproof is a record-keeping and reminder aid. It keeps track of your equipment, inspections, defects, staff certificates and daily checks, tells you what's due, and holds the evidence.
It doesn't inspect, test or repair anything, and it isn't advice. Your garage keeps every duty it has under health and safety law, DVSA's rules for MOT stations and its insurance. That includes choosing competent people to examine and test your equipment, acting on what they find, and deciding whether a piece of kit can be used.
The inspection schedules, intervals and wording Bodgeproof starts you with come from published guidance. Check they fit your equipment, the makers' instructions and what your examiners and insurer tell you, and change them where they don't.
Statuses such as "Do not use", "Overdue" and "In date" are worked out from the dates and records you and your contractors enter, so they're only as good as those records.
The sign-in book and roll call are a second copy. Keep a paper signing-in book by the door and use it whenever Bodgeproof can't be reached; on a fire alarm, take the paper book as well as your phone.
Your account and your users
Your garage can have as many users as it likes. Its owners and managers decide who's in and in what role, and remove people who leave.
Each person should have their own login and keep it to themselves. A shared login on a workshop device is fine: each check done on it asks who did it. Owners and managers use two-step login when Bodgeproof asks them to.
You're responsible for what's done in your garage's account, and for what's entered being accurate.
You choose who gets a contractor's upload link or code, and you can turn a link off at any time. Anything a contractor sends waits for you to check it before it counts.
Your QR stickers' public page shows what you choose under "What customers see". Anyone can report a problem from it, and visitors can sign in from your poster. Those reports and sign-ins are your garage's to act on.
The free trial
A garage that signs up on our website gets 30 days of full use, with no card. We email your owners three days before it ends.
When it ends, your account becomes read-only until you choose a plan: you can still see and download everything, but nothing new can be added. Each garage gets one free trial.
Plans, prices and paying
Bodgeproof is priced per site, with as many users as you like, and the MOT module per MOT site. Our pricing page has the current prices, monthly or yearly (two months free).
Prices don't include VAT. EZX Ltd isn't registered for VAT today. If it registers, VAT will be added at the rate in force, and we'll tell you before it is.
You pay in advance, by card or Direct Debit, through Stripe, our payment provider. A monthly plan renews each month and a yearly plan each year until it's cancelled.
Adding a site costs its share of the rest of the period you've paid for: on the next invoice for a monthly plan, and straight away for a yearly one. Removing a site lowers the price from the next renewal, with no refund for the current period.
A founding price or an offer code applies as it said when you were given it. An offer's free months count from your next charge, so a code used during the free trial starts when the trial ends.
We'll email your owners at least 30 days before a price rise applies to you, so you can cancel first if you want to.
If a payment fails, Stripe tries again and emails you. If it still hasn't been paid 14 days later, your account becomes read-only until it is.
Cancelling, and leaving with your records
There's no contract: an owner can cancel at any time from Billing. Your plan runs to the end of the period you've paid for, and we don't refund part periods.
After that, your account is read-only for 30 days. Your owners are emailed a download of everything, and you can come back in that time without losing anything.
When the 30 days are up we delete your garage's records. Copies in our backups are gone within 12 months, as the backups are replaced.
You can download everything at any time from Download your data: your records as spreadsheets (CSV) and every file as it was uploaded. Keep that download. Your garage's duty to keep its records doesn't end when it stops using Bodgeproof.
We can close your garage's account if it doesn't pay, or seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms. We'll email your owners first and give you the same 30 days to download everything, unless the law stops us.
Support
Email support@bodgeproof.co.uk for help. We aim to answer within a working day.
To help you, our support staff can open your garage's account. Each time is recorded in your audit trail with the reason, lasts an hour at most, and your owners are emailed when it starts. Support can't change your members, passwords or two-step login.
Keeping it running
Bodgeproof runs on servers in the UK. Your garage's records are backed up every night, and backups are kept for up to 12 months.
We aim to keep Bodgeproof working all the time, but we can't promise it will never be down or never go wrong. Planned work happens outside working hours where we can manage it. If it can't be reached, carry on with paper and add it later.
We keep improving Bodgeproof, so how it works will change. We won't take away a main part you're paying for without emailing your owners at least 30 days before, so you can cancel first.
Reading documents, and training
Bodgeproof can read reports and certificates that are uploaded or emailed to it, and fill in the filing form for you. The reading runs on computers EZX runs in the UK, and no outside AI service sees your documents. What it reads is a suggestion: check it before you file.
Training is off unless one of your owners turns it on, under Data protection. While it's on, EZX may use the documents your garage files, and what they were filed as, to improve its own reading software, and for nothing else. Turning it off stops it for anything filed afterwards, and nothing from a garage that has stopped or closed is used.
Your records
Your garage's records are your garage's. EZX uses them only to run Bodgeproof for you, as the data processing terms below say, and never sells them.
We may use figures that identify no garage and no person, such as how many items Bodgeproof tracks in all, to run and improve it.
If you suggest an improvement, we're free to use the idea.
Using it fairly
Don't use Bodgeproof to break the law, upload anything you've no right to, try to get at another garage's records, test or get round its security, overload it, copy it, or sell it on without our agreement.
Only record the personal details you need. Accident book entries and health details need particular care, and are your garage's to keep confidential.
We can stop a login or a link that's being misused, and will tell your owners why.
If something goes wrong
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow to be limited.
Apart from that, EZX isn't liable for loss of profit, income, business or goodwill; for loss of records you could have kept in your download; for indirect or consequential loss; or for the cost of anything your garage had to do anyway, such as inspections, repairs, fines or enforcement action arising from its own duties.
EZX's total liability to your garage for everything in any 12 months is limited to the greater of what your garage paid us in those 12 months and £100.
Bodgeproof is provided as these terms describe it. We don't promise it suits any other purpose.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. We'll email your owners at least 30 days before a change that affects your garage, and the new date will be at the top of this page. If you don't agree, cancel before it applies; carrying on afterwards means accepting it.
Each person who signs up or joins a garage accepts the terms in force on that day, and Bodgeproof records which.
Everything else
Neither of us is responsible for a delay or failure caused by something outside our reasonable control.
Your garage can't pass this agreement to anyone else without our agreement. We may pass it to a company that takes over Bodgeproof, and will tell your owners if we do.
If a court decides part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
These terms, with the privacy notice and any agreement your garage has signed with us, are the whole agreement about Bodgeproof.
The law of England and Wales applies to these terms, and the courts of England and Wales decide any dispute.
Data processing terms
These terms cover the personal details your garage keeps in Bodgeproof, as UK data protection law asks of a business that handles them for another (UK GDPR, Article 28).
Who does what
Your garage is the controller of the personal details in its account: about its staff, its visitors and contractors, the people who report a problem from its stickers, and anyone in its accident book.
EZX is its processor. It handles those details only to provide Bodgeproof, following your garage's instructions, which are these terms and what your users do in Bodgeproof.
What's handled, and for how long
Names, contact details and job titles; certificates and training; shifts, absences and first-aid cover; sign-in and sign-out times; accident book entries, which can include details of injuries; photos and documents; and who did each check, record and change.
For as long as your garage's account is open, then for the 30 days after it ends, and in backups for up to 12 months after that.
What EZX does
- Acts only on your garage's instructions, unless the law makes it do something else, in which case it tells you first unless it isn't allowed to.
- Makes sure everyone who can see the details is bound to keep them confidential.
- Keeps them secure: every connection is encrypted, each garage's records are kept apart in the database, logins use two-step, access is limited and recorded, and everything is backed up each night.
- Uses only the providers listed below, under written terms that protect the details as these do. It emails your owners at least 30 days before adding or changing one; if you object and we can't settle it, you can cancel.
- Helps you answer anyone who asks to see, correct or delete their details, and helps with security, breaches and impact assessments where you need it.
- Tells your garage without undue delay, and within 48 hours of finding out, about any breach that affects its details, with what's known.
- Deletes your garage's details when the 30 days after its account ends are up, with backups following within 12 months, unless the law makes it keep them.
- Gives you the information you need to check it keeps to these terms, and answers reasonable questions and audits about it.
Where it's kept
In the UK. If a provider below handles details outside the UK, it does so under the UK's adequacy regulations or the UK's international data transfer agreement.
